In Memory of Betty Stovell
Betty, for a good number of years was an inspiration to those around her, both family and friends.
Her illness didn't stop her smiling and giving an encouraging word to those around her.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her .
She is now at peace with her Saviour.
David talked of Betty bringing him back to life after the death of his first wife.
Just as I suspect David brought Betty back to life after the death of her husband Rex.
David and Betty had known each other for years and had been good friends but it was Carol who knowing
David was on his own offered to put him in contact with Betty.
They met again on a Station platform in Wales and at the end of their time together neither wanted to leave.
Nick and Dawn, David's son and daughter in law, remember a besotted David arriving of the train after the
first meeting and both instantly warmed to Betty when they first met her.
A whirl wind romance ensued and they married in February 2002.
She was a Church Steward and cared for us all.
In more recent times she joined our worship group, leading the singing on a Sunday Morning, and was a member of 'CAMEO'.
It was only her illness that eventually stopped her being able to continue with us.
ALMAC Bisley Brass Band.
The Band, rearranged their diaries to come and play for her.
and the following is a tribute from their musical director Peter Stickland.
Betty, together with David, were keen supporters of the band and were also Patrons, they both attended all of our concerts.
Betty's ready smile and sense of humour was evident throughout her illness.
I will long remember seeing her arrive at the Strawberry Fayre at Bisley last year,
David pushing her in her wheelchair, she was so happy to be able to come to that event,
she greeted us all with a big smile and a wave.
We were very privileged to play at Betty's thanksgiving service at the Church,
from the size of the congregation it was evident of the love and affection that we all had for Betty.
The singing of "How Great Thou Art" at that service will stay in our memories for a long time.

She was a member of the worship group who turned out in force to sing for her.
Betty loved singing new songs, seeing the need to encourage music relevant to young people and children.
Betty met people where they were – she didn't try to change them but they were changed because
she loved everyone she met and tried to see the best in everyone.
She took time to get to know people – not in general chit chat – but in really trying to know each person as an individual.
She was an example to us all, that when our time comes we can look to, learn from,
and trust in Jesus our Saviour.
She knew that she was on her way to heaven, had accepted it, and wanted to share the good news with all whom she met.
A romance with David that was still as strong in the last few moments of her life, as he said goodbye to his Princess.
Betty is now in heaven, at home with her Lord and her God whom she served faithfully over many years.
Thanks to Rev Nick Oborski and Peter Stickland for material used.
