Re-Dedication 20.03.05
Following are the words of the hymns to sing in this first service.

(1st Hymn)Timothy Dudley-Smith

Lord, for the years your love has kept and guided,
urged and inspired us, cheered us on our way,
sought us and saved us, pardoned and provided:
Lord for the years, we bring our thanks today.

Lord, for that word, the word of life which fires us,
speaks to our hearts and sets our souls ablaze,
teaches and trains, rebukes us and inspires us:
Lord of the word, receive your people's praise.

Lord, for our land in this our generation,
spirits oppressed by pleasure, wealth and care:
for young and old, for commonwealth and nation,
Lord of our land, be pleased to hear our prayer.

Lord, for our world when men disown and doubt him,
loveless in strength, and comfortless in pain,
hungry and helpless, lost indeed without him:
Lord of the world, we pray that Christ may reign.

Lord for ourselves; in living power remake us-
self on the cross, and Christ upon the throne,
past put behind us, for the future take us:
Lord of our lives, to live for Christ alone.

(2nd Hymn) F. Pratt Green 806

WHAT shall our greeting be:
Sign of our unity?
Jesus is Lord!
May we no more defend
Barriers he died to end:
Give me your hand, my friend.
One Church, one Lord!

What is our mission here?
He makes his purpose clear:
One world, one Lord!
Spirit of truth, descend;
All our confusions end:
Give me your hand, my friend.
Jesus is Lord!

He comes to save us now: To serve him is to know
Life's true reward. May he our lives amend,
All our betrayals end: Give me your hand, my friend.
Jesus is Lord!

SONG by The Seekers

I'd like to build a world a home and furnish it with love.
Grow apple trees and honey bees and snow white turtle doves.
I'd like to teach the world to sing in perfect harmony
I'd like to hold it in my arms and keep it company.

I'd like to see the world for once all standing hand in hand.
And hear them echo through the hills for peace throughout the land.

That's the song I hear let the world sing today.
A song of peace that echoes on and never goes away.
Put your hand in my hand Let's begin today
Put your hand in my hand help me find the way.

(3rd Hymn)F. Pratt Green 804

THE CHURCH OF CHRIST, IN EVERY AGE
Beset by change, but Spirit-led,
Must claim and test its heritage
And keep on rising from the dead.

Across the world, across the street,
The victims of injustice cry
For shelter and for bread to eat,
And never live until they die.

Then let the servant Church arise,
A caring Church that longs to be
A partner in Christ's, sacrifice,
And clothed in Christ's humanity.

For he alone, whose blood was shed,
Can cure the fever in our blood,
And teach us how to share our bread
And feed the starving multitude.

We have no mission but to serve
In full obedience to our Lord:
To care for all, without reserve;
And spread his liberating Word.

(4th Hymn) Brian A Wren 500

LORD GOD YOUR LOVE HAS CALLED US HERE
As we, by love, for love were made;
Your living likeness still we bear,
Though marred, dishonoured, disobeyed;
We come, with all our heart and mind,
Your call to hear, your love to find.

We come with self-inflicted pains
Of broken trust and chosen wrong,
Half-free, half-bound by inner chains,
By social forces swept along,
By powers and systems close confined,
Yet seeking hope for humankind.

Lord God, in Christ you call our name,
And then receive us as your own,
Not through some merit, right or claim,
But by your gracious love alone;
We strain to glimpse your mercy-seat,
And find you kneeling at our feet.

Then take the towel, and break the bread,
And humble us, and call us friends;
Suffer and serve till all are fed,
And show how grandly love intends.
To work till all creation sings,
To fill all worlds, to crown all things.

Lord God, in Christ you set us free
Your life to live, your joy to share;
Give us your Spirit's liberty
To turn from guilt and dull despair
And offer all that faith can do,
While love is making all things new.

(5th Hymn) F. Pratt Green 653

GOD IS HERE! AS WE HIS PEOPLE
Meet to offer praise and prayer,
May we find in fuller measure What it is in Christ we share.
Here, as in the world around us
All our varied skills and arts Wait the coming of the Spirit
Into open minds and hearts.

Here are symbols to remind us Of our lifelong need of grace;
Here are table, font, and pulpit;
Here the cross has central place. Here in honesty of preaching,
Here in silence, as in speech, Here, in newness and renewal,
God the Spirit comes to each.

Here our children find a welcome
In the Shepherd’s flock and fold;
Here as bread and wine are taken, Christ sustains us, as of old;
Here the servants of the Servant
Seek in worship to exploreWhat it means in daily living
To believe and to adore.

Lord of all, of Church and Kingdom,
In an age of change and doubt,
Keep us faithful to the gospel, Help us work your purpose out.
Here, in this week’s dedication,
All we have to give, receive: We, who cannot live without you,
We adore you! We believe!
